A well-established e-commerce and brand management company based the Observatory (Cape Town) is hiring an experienced Merchandise Planner to take full ownership of forecasting, inventory optimisation and sales & margin performance across leading international and national sports & lifestyle brands.

  • This is a role for a proven planner ready to own a brand portfolio and trade it commercially – real decisions, real accountability, not admin. You'll be trusted with the numbers behind top global brands, and your calls on forecasting, buying and allocation will directly shape the business's performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own sales, stock and intake forecasts across multiple brands and product ranges
  • Optimise inventory levels, product availability, sell-through, weeks cover and margin
  • Allocate and replenish stock across e-commerce and wholesale channels, balancing service, margin and risk
  • Turn data into decisions: reporting, KPI dashboards and range analysis that drive trading actions
  • Manage the product lifecycle from plan to execution alongside buying, marketing and supply chain

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualificaitons:

  • BCom in Logistics & Supply Chain Management 

 

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in merchandise planning, demand planning or retail/e-commerce planning – 4+ years will be a strong advantage
  • Experience working with International Brands (highly advantageous)
  • Proven track record managing forecasting, inventory planning, and sales & margin performance
  • Advanced Excel – Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas (Power Query advantageous) – non-negotiable
  • Strong ERP / planning systems experience (SAP, Oracle or similar)
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership, and defend your recommendations with data
  • MUST currently live in Cape Town / Western Cape – the role is fully onsite in Observatory
