Position Summary

The Space Planning Services Student Assistant provides administrative, technical, and project-based support to the Wexner Medical Center’s Space Planning Services Department. This role assists facility planners, interior design planners, senior planners, and project teams with the analysis, documentation, and coordination of space planning, signage, and environmental graphic design initiatives across the Medical Center.

The position supports the Environmental Branding Team, Signage & Wayfinding Team, and interdisciplinary project teams, contributing to projects serving clinical, research, and academic environments. Work primarily supports the population of building and departmental staff and administrators, while also enhancing experiences for patients and visitors.

Scope of Responsibilities

Project and Design Support

  • Assist with the investigation and analysis of space planning, signage, and environmental graphic design requests

  • Support concept development for signage and environmental graphics projects

  • Assist with signage installation oversight and coordination

Documentation and Software Utilization

  • Document project work using design and planning software at beginner through advanced levels, which may include:

    • Adobe Creative Suite

    • AutoCAD and Revit

    • SignAgent

  • Provide administrative support through preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation using:

    • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams

    • Adobe Acrobat

On-Site and Field Support

  • Conduct on-site surveys and assessments within Medical Center buildings and sites

  • Document and inventory spaces, signage, and environmental graphics using software, photography, and measuring tools

  • Assist with material and finish selection

  • Coordinate with signage and branding installers and vendors as needed to support project execution

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or a related field

  • Completion of at least two semesters of coursework related to the chosen field of study
