Graphic Communication & Brand Manager

Job Summary
The Graphic Communications & Brand Manager provides graphic design services to Milwaukee County's departments that do not have in-house graphic design resources. The role is also responsible for developing a countywide style guide and set of graphic communication standards. By modeling best practices, providing consultation and managing branding resources, this role ensures a uniform, consistent brand and visual communication strategy throughout Milwaukee County.
Hybrid Work Schedule: This position is expected to work Monday–Friday, with one (1) day in the office and four (4) days remote, subject to change based on organizational needs.
Job Responsibilities
Produce Graphic Design and Visual Communications
Create work products that reflect and model Milwaukee County standards.
Collaborate with departmental contacts, project managers, and internal communications team to provide graphic design and visual assets as needed.
Produce effective graphic design and visual communications for print, web, logos, templates, signage and displays.
Manage an inventory of work products that is accessible to internal customers and department colleagues.
Build Capacity for Graphic Production and Brand Alignment
Ensure communication leads countywide are aware, understand, and can implement Milwaukee County’s brand identity with fidelity.
Build capacity throughout the County by developing trainings and supporting other’s learning.
Monitor graphics created by departments and provide proactive, constructive feedback.
Serve as IMSD’s point of contact to ensure Canva’s licensing process and standards align to support a strong culture of graphic communication
Manage and Maintain Graphic and Brand Resources
Develop and maintain guides and manuals, templates, to promote norms for other Milwaukee County employees, contractors and partners.
Develop and maintain Milwaukee County photo library for use by all departments and agencies and help units find suitable images for their work products.
Maintain visual assets library accessible to employees in all departments and agencies.
Provide images to external stakeholders and partners when requested.
Develop and Enhance Milwaukee County's Brand Identity
Research innovative programming and strategies to explore how Milwaukee County’s brand identity can evolve.
Present and champion new branding concepts to the County Executive’s Office, leadership, and communications leads in order to continually elevate Milwaukee County’s brand identity.
Serve as countywide resource on the brand, its assets and visual communication processes and practices.
Communications Hub Support
Provide thought partnership for how the county’s communications systems and platforms can be enhanced and innovated.
Leverage the Project Management Office’s tools and tracking systems with fidelity to monitor progress regularly.
Provide website support to departments and webmaster/digital program manager.
Edit, develop, and disseminate written content for various communication mediums as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences
Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or closely related field required
Five (5) years or more of work experience in Branding, Marketing, Graphic Design or Communications required
Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams required
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite required
Previous experience using font management software required
Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to ten (10) lbs. required
Preferred Education, License/Certification and Experiences
Previous work experience in a Supervisory or Management role preferred
