BDG architecture + design is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Technical Designer with a passion for architectural detailing and BIM excellence. This is a Fixed Term Contract position.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring the technical integrity and quality of our projects, working closely with our design teams to translate concepts into precise and buildable solutions.
Proficiency in REVIT is essential, as is a deep understanding of construction processes and technical documentation across all project stages.
BDG architecture + design is a team of 15 people, a mix of architects, designers, strategists, and communicators, spread across 3 studios in London, New York and Sao Paulo.

What You'll Do
REVIT Project and Model Setup: Initiate and set up new REVIT projects, ensuring adherence to company standards and project-specific requirements. Establish and maintain project models, including linking and coordinating external models (e.g., structural, MEP). Implement and manage work-sharing protocols within REVIT projects. Develop and produce base-build models for use during design stages.
Template Creation and Management: Develop, maintain, and update REVIT templates, families, and libraries to enhance efficiency and consistency across projects. Ensure all templates align with current industry best practices and company standards. Provide guidance and support to other team members on template usage and best practices.
Technical Drawing and Schedule Production: Produce comprehensive and accurate technical drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules, across all RIBA stages (0-7). Generate detailed schedules (e.g., door, joinery, room, finish schedules) directly from the REVIT model. Ensure all documentation is compliant with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Prepare drawing sets for costing purposes, planning applications, tender packages, contract and construction documentation.
Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with architects, interior designers, and other project team members to translate design concepts into detailed technical drawings. Actively participate in design team meetings and coordination sessions. Assist in resolving technical challenges and design conflicts. Communicate effectively with external consultants (e.g., structural engineers, MEP engineers) to ensure seamless coordination of information.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough self-checks and peer reviews of drawings and models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards. Identify and report potential issues or discrepancies in project documentation.
BIM Standards and Best Practices: Contribute to the development and implementation of BIM standards and workflows within the practice. Stay abreast of the latest REVIT software updates, plugins, and industry trends. Provide internal training and support to less experienced REVIT users as needed.
