LMD - a change agency, is a woman-owned small business seeking an experienced Brand Manager to join our fast-paced, award-winning, full-service marketing & communications team. This strategic, creative, senior-level role leads the development, execution, and evolution of our large Federal Client's brand initiatives. In addition to other branding- and marketing-related responsibilities, the person holding this role is principally responsible for ensuring brand consistency across all platforms and strengthening public perception and internal engagement.

Job Summary
Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating, implementing, and communicating the overarching brand strategy.
  • Overseeing brand governance and ensuring alignment across all agency initiatives.
  • Managing brand assets and ensuring consistency in tone, visuals, and messaging.

The Brand Manager will guide a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate closely with senior Federal leadership and internal departments. The role may also include managing relationships with external partners to execute initiatives that align with our client's strategic objectives

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Brand Strategy & Planning 
    • Develop and implement brand strategies: Define brand positioning, architecture, and messaging to maintain relevance across target audiences and channels. Align long-term brand strategies with business objectives.
    • Create and execute integrated strategic plans: Lead and coordinate branding efforts across digital, social, and traditional channels to support brand goals.
    • Synthesize market research and analytics: Analyze consumer behavior, market trends, and the competitive landscape to inform brand decisions.
  • Execution & Implementation 
    • Oversee development of marketing materials: Manage campaigns (social, internal, and external), promotional content, and asset creation. 
    • Maintain brand consistency: Uphold brand standards and messaging across all channels. Strengthen the perception of the client's enterprise brand through visual identity, style guides, key messaging, and documented brand governance guidelines. 
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with command, leadership, creative teams, and other departments to align strategy and execution. 
    • Track brand performance: Define KPIs and monitor brand health and campaign results. Use insights to adjust future strategies. 
  • Leadership & Management 
    • Lead and mentor teams: Provide coaching, guidance, and professional growth opportunities. Promote collaboration and clear communication across teams.
    • Advocate for the brand: Represent the brand internally and externally while upholding its integrity.
    • Drive innovation and growth: Identify new opportunities and approaches to elevate brand impact.
    • Supervisory responsibilities: Lead the communications team. Manage relationships with leadership, external agencies, vendors, and marketing partners. 
    • Advise and support senior leadership: Communicate progress, escalate issues, and execute priorities from the client's senior leadership.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving.

  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding how to create, maintain, and evolve a brand’s identity, voice, and positioning in the market.
  • In-depth understanding of brand positioning, messaging, and behavior change. 
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret market trends and campaign performance metrics. 
  • Strong understanding of creative development, media strategy, and digital marketing, including SEO, PPC, email marketing, and social media strategies.
  • Creativity and innovation in branding and advertising.
  • Familiarity with content creation, storytelling, and brand voice development.
  • Budget management and financial planning for marketing initiatives.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple branding projects, meet deadlines, and ensure consistency across initiatives.
  • Experience developing compelling brand narratives, campaigns, and marketing materials that resonate with audiences. 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. in business, communications, advertising, marketing, or related fields.
  • 8+ experience in brand management, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful brand strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate insights.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Strong team management skills.
  • Experience in digital marketing, social media, and content marketing strategies.
  • Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • DoD or other government experience is highly desired.

Job Location(s): 

  • This is a hybrid position that requires weekly in-person meetings at our Federal client's headquarters. 
  • Residency in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan/national capital region is required.

Salary Range:
$90,000 - $130,000 
a year
